  • Hotels Now Available for Celebration VI

With a little over a year to go before the return of the galaxy's greatest celebration, the block of hotels for next summer's Star Wars Celebration are now available with rates starting at $65 a night.

To get these rates, you must book your rooms through onPeak, Celebration's only official travel provider. The Celebration page warns everyone to only book through onPeak due to the scams other "services" may offer - personally, I saw a lot of scalpers last year selling tickets (and probably counterfeits at that) so I'd take their advice on that one. It's worth noting too that the hotel rates are based on a check-in date of 08/22/12 and a check-out of 08/26/12, so multiply the nightly rate by 4. It's still a good deal in my opinion though considering the average hotel rate at a typical con goes for around $99-129 a night.

If you've never been to Celebration before and are planning on going, I'd highly suggest that you reserve your room now while you still can. Though there will probably be rooms available closer to the show, it's really not worth chancing due to the sheer number of people going. After 4 days straight at the Orange County Convention Center last year where C5 was held, the soles of my shoes were literally worn away from all the walking and dragging of my feet. I'm lucky enough to live about 20 minutes away from the convention center, but those of you from out of town will definitely want a room close to where the action is so you can unwind when you've had enough for the day.

Fortunately for the Celebration hotel block, free shuttle service will be provided to and from the convention center. Last year shuttles were going all hours of the day, but there was still a bit of a wait to get on board and to your hotel. I'd definitely recommend against driving if at all possible, because traffic can get crazy and you'll usually end up taking a shuttle to get to the parking lot anyway (unless you want to take a 15 minute walk to your car). The drivers at the convention center were all in good spirits and seemed to be having a good time, plus the shuttles were jam packed with Star Wars fans too, so think of them as the official Celebration Party Shuttles.
